France Football is reporting that Arsenal manager Unai Emery has identified young Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar as the ideal replacement for Aaron Ramsey and is keen on bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.
According to the French publication, Emery is a big fan of the player’s versatility, his ability to intercept play and unlock defences with a killer pass, and his potential to fill the vacuum Aaron Ramsey’s departure, either in January or in the summer, will create.
However, they added that a move to Arsenal would depend on whether or not the London club qualifies for the Champions League this season. Aouar is also reported to favour a move to Man City to work with Pep Guardiola.
The younger, who had earlier rejected a move to Liverpool, is also being monitored by Chelsea and Manchester City, but Arsenal appears to be in pole position.
It will take a fee in excess of €40m(£36million) to price him away from Lyon.
