Antonio Rudiger says he is not discussing a new contract with Chelsea at the moment.
The tough-as-nails defender has become one of the mainstays of the Chelsea team under Mauricio Sarri this season, as he has been in the starting line-up in every one of Chelsea’s 17 EPL matches.
With four more years left on his current contract, Rudiger was asked to clarify recent rumours of an imminent contract extension and he said even though he was happy at his London club, there was currently no need to be speaking about a new deal, giving that his current deal has over three years to run.
“That’s not the case to be honest.
“I think there is no need. I still have three and a half years to go. I like it here, but there is no speaking between me and the club.
“It is not necessary at the moment. I am trying to do my best, improve day by day, game by game.
“That’s what I’m all about. Of course, this season is going well for me personally, but there is always space to improve.”
