Senate President Bukola Saraki has congratulated Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his emergence as winner of the Kwara State governorship elections.
His congratulatory message comes in spite of the acrimony and bitterness that preceded the presidential and gubernatorial elections in Kwara State, between his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following Saraki’s earlier loss to Ibrahim Oloriegbe of the APC in his own re-election bid for the Kwara Central Senatorial seat, his anointed Kwara governorship candidate, Razaq Atunwa of the PDP, also lost to APC’s Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq in the state’s gubernatorial elections.
Abdulrasaq won the March 9 elections with 331,546 votes, while Atunwa garnered 114,754 votes.
Saraki posted the following congratulatory message on his twitter page:
I thank all Kwarans, particularly PDP supporters, who worked for the party in the just concluded elections. My congratulations go to Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and all those who emerged at all levels. I wish them all the best.
